Does the expansion joint in the piping system need regular maintenance?

Expansion joints in piping systems require regular maintenance.

First of all, the expansion joint will be affected by the erosion and corrosion of the medium and the displacement and vibration of the pipeline during use. For example, the guide cylinder may be worn due to long-term media erosion, and the sealing device may also reduce the tightness due to corrosion.

Regular maintenance can detect these potential problems in time. The maintenance period is usually based on the working environment and operation of the pipeline system. In general, in harsh working environments (such as conveying corrosive media, high temperature and high pressure environments), an inspection is carried out every 3-6 months; If the working environment is relatively good, it can be checked once a year.

The inspection content mainly includes the appearance inspection, to see whether the expansion joint has signs of leakage, whether the bellows have deformation and cracks, whether the end ring and the nozzle are firmly connected, and whether the sealing device is intact. At the same time, the displacement compensation of the expansion joint should be checked to ensure that it can still meet the displacement requirements of the pipeline system.

Through regular maintenance, the service life of the expansion joint can be effectively extended, and possible safety hazards such as pipeline leakage can be prevented in time to ensure the normal and safe operation of the pipeline system.
